Philodendron 'El Choco Red' is a collector favorite, known for its velvety green leaves and deep red undersides. Leaves are heart-shaped and soft to the touch, giving this plant a lush, dramatic vibe without being fussy.

It prefers bright, indirect light and steady humidity, but it’s more forgiving than it looks. Give it something to climb and you’ll get larger leaves over time.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun to prevent leaf scorch
  • Water: Water when top 1–2 inches of soil are dry; reduce frequency in cooler months
  • Pet-Friendly: No, toxic to pets if ingested
  • Humidity: Prefers higher humidity; a humidifier or pebble tray can help in dry spaces
  • Care Level: Moderate; benefits from consistent watering and humidity
