Once again, BWH, you did things the way they're supposed to be done. This Alocasia is a subtle beauty - not quite as flashy as its variegated cousin. That being said, I like this one better, so I'm happy that I received a beautiful and healthy plant. Strange, but "Frydek" originated as a commercial typo of "Freydyk, the name of the Czech botanist who had something to do with introducing the splendid cultivar to the rest of plantdom. Now, the name Alocasia is the result of lazy plant namers. You see, the plants we now know as Alocasias were once grouped together with Colcasias. When they decided that they should be split into two separate species, they picked a name that meant "not Colcasia." Not the most creative naming, but i guess it works. In any case, I'm just happy that I have a real beauty that will look great in my not mansion.

My plant arrived in pretty good shape. I had to cut off one yellow leaf, and it needed a few days to perk up. Just a week or so later and it’s putting out a new leaf!

I’m so impressed with this Frydek for the price. Came packaged wonderfully, arrived still looking fabulous on a journey from Florida to the 120’ Arizona heat. I will be placing another order.
