While I love this plant and it arrived in pristine condition, me and alocasias are lovers and haters. After 3 months, she began to drop all of her leaves, and a new one has sprouted. Just one leaf!! One day I will have the bushy alocasia of my dreams.

The alocasia reginula black velvet is hands down my favorite alocasia. I was pleased that it arrived with six leaves (although one was lost and another one seems on its way out). It’s a little wonky though. I’m hoping that with the right grow light setup I can eventually get the leaves to grow upwards. It’s still a gorgeous plant though.

My alocasia came in near perfect condition. We all know how finicky these plants can be, but this is the first one that I have ever successfully kept alive more than two weeks. She is thriving and experienced little to no shipping stress. There was a new leaf that was opening right as I opened the package and it looks amazing.
I have since moved it to water and Leca and I have just never seen an alocasia look so good in my house.
