Once you have the right option, here’s how to care for your arrowhead plant so you can enjoy watching it grow whether you're a new or experienced plant parent.
Watering Instructions
Syngonium needs to be watered roughly once each week when the top of the soil feels dry. They thrive in evenly moist soil so you may want to use a moisture meter and check an inch to two inches down every other week.
The plant itself needs high humidity so if you do not live in a humid climate you’ll want to either have a humidifier in the room or try using a pebble tray with water.
Sunlight
Syngonium need bright but indirect sunlight in order to keep their variegation and growth healthy, but they can survive in more dim environments. Avoid placing your arrowhead plant in direct sunlight as the leaves may get burned, become less vibrant, and the plant unhealthy.
Soil and Repotting
Arrowhead plants need to be repotted when they become root-bound which is roughly 1 to 2 years. Make sure the soil or potting mix has good drainage and moisture control like mixes that use peat moss for retaining but not trapping water and perlite to help with aeration. The goal is consistent moisture vs. keeping the roots wet causing root rot. Add one of our Dirt Bags (potting soil) to help ensure you have the right potting mix.
Toxic to Pets
Yes, Syngonium arrowhead plants are toxic to pets including dogs, cats, rabbits, and others. Keep them out of reach and contact your Veterinarian immediately if the leaves have been eaten or chewed.
