Columnea is a genus of about 200 species of epiphytic plants and in the same flowering plant family as African Violets and Lipstick Plants. This plant has become popular for its orange flowers, which vaguely resemble a fish.

This plant loves light, preferably bright, indirect. Direct sunlight will scorch the leaves and flowers. Water frequently and misting is essential. When buying soil, be sure to look for some containing peat moss and perlite. They appreciate high humidity so placing a pebble tray underneath your plant or investing in a humidifier will be good for your plant's growth.
