Columnea is a genus of ca. 200 species of epiphytic herbs and shrubs in the flowering plant family Gesneriaceae, native to tropical America and the Caribbean. The tubular or oddly shaped flowers are usually large and brightly colored – usually red, yellow, or orange – sometimes resembling a fish in shape.
Columnea Hirta 'Goldfish'
This plant loves light, preferably bright indirect. Direct sunlight will scorch the leaves, so be careful on your plant placement. Water frequently and misting is essential. When buying soil, be sure to look for some containing peat moss & perlite. They love high humidity so placing a pebble tray or investing in a humidifier will be good.
